“Once I began my senior year, my mom and I started thinking about senior pictures and more importantly, who would take them.  My mom, being an aspiring photographer herself, was very picky about who she wanted to choose to take my pictures.  We saw examples of Tricia’s work when she took pictures of Kendall (a girl on my cheer squad) the year before and my mom and I both loved them.  We contacted Tricia and she responded immediately. From there we got the chance to meet her before the shoot where she explained to us all her ideas and asked about mine, and then gave a lot of advice on what to do and not to do before the shoot.  The weeks leading up to it, we kept in touch about location, outfits, makeup, and hair.  On the day of, she was so sweet and really made me feel comfortable posing for the pictures. I loved the way they turned out, and I would recommend her to anyone!”

Hi again everyone!

Are you enjoying your weekend?  It’s kind of gross and rainy here in Georgia, so I hope that wherever you are, that you are having a great weekend!

If you have been following along, I hinted around last blog post that I had one final outfit of Kendall’s to share, so thank you for coming back!

I remember when Kendall first started planning her senior session, she shared with me that she wanted to have some pictures taken with her dog Dutchess.  Kendall rescued Dutchess and as you can imagine is super special to her.  Needless to say, I was so excited.  You all know how ridiculous I am taking pictures of my own dogs, so I was beyond ecstatic to incorporate her dog into her senior portraits.  And what a sweetheart Dutchess is!!

Today’s the day!  Kendall graduates from Grayson High School!!

Of all the seniors that I have photographed, I have known Kendall the longest.  I photographed her sister Kelsey in 2012!  It’s hard to believe that I met the Burrell Family when Kendall was in the eighth grade!

It really has been wonderful getting to know the entire family over the years.  I’ll miss all of our shoot planning!!  Melisa has always been a great partner in crime!

Hopefully we can squeeze in one more shoot before Kendall is off to Georgia Southern!!

“My daughter Maili found Tricia Toker through Facebook and was telling me about wanting to use Tricia to do her Senior pictures while she was in her Junior year.  I was not sure what to expect so I researched Tricia’s website and liked her Facebook page as well, so that I could become familiar with her style and work.  My daughter is famous for wanting to do something and changing her mind at the last minute, however with Tricia this was not the case!  Maili insisted on using Tricia for her Senior pictures and I am glad we did.

Maili’s pictures came out better than I could have ever expected.  The heart and soul that Tricia puts into her work makes using the word “work”  to describe what she does an understatement.  You can see the passion and dedication that Tricia has for photography in every shot she takes!

Today is the day!

I haven’t been as on top of my blogging as I would like, so I’m trying to get caught up.  Hopefully, you’ll be hearing a lot from me in the next few weeks!

While I haven’t blogged Grayson High School’s Maili Lutz senior portraits yet, I am sure you will recognize her from some previous shoots.   Back in the summer, she was part of the Birthday Styled Shoot for Seniorologie.  Most recently, she was part of the “What’s Your Favorite Scary Movie” Styled Shoot.  I’ll have more of that shoot later though, because like I mentioned, I gotta go back a bit to Maili’s Senior Spokesmodel session!

It’s that time again, Chic Critique Forum‘s Chic Magazine Cover Contest!

I really had a difficult time selecting which image to submit this time.  I decided on an image of the lovely Savannah again.  This time though from the “Dreams of Fame” styled shoot.

Here is my submission for Chic Magazine:

From the first pose, Grayson High School’s Kelsey Burrell was amazing!

It’s usually the norm that most people have to “warm up” a little in front of the camera…not Kelsey though!  She couldn’t have been more stunning and every look she gave me was like she had been doing this for years!

It might help that Kelsey has been performing for years, fifteen in fact, as a dancer.

While she has plans after high school to major in dance and minor in business, I think she would give any girl on “America’s Next Top Model” a run for their money!  Check out this girl’s “smizing!”

A few weeks ago, the website Seniorologie announced they would be celebrating their one year birthday!  In addition to celebrating all month with birthday related giveaways and posts, they wanted to see any other photographers’ birthday concept shoots.    Early this week, I was soooo incredibly excited to see a birthday shoot that I put together featured on their website!   Click here for the Seniorologie post and read all about my inspiration for the shoot.    Then come back here and scroll down for more from this fun shoot!

When I decided to order 30 balloons, I didn’t even think about transporting them (which became a tangled mess)

and then where to keep them until the shoot!

I was trying not to duplicate images that were in the Seniorologie post, but I have to share this one again, because I literally have had this idea in my head for years!  I have always wanted to recreate different memorable movie scenes and this shoot was perfect to recreate the final scene from the movie “Sixteen Candles!”  Make a Wish!

Thanks to Leslie from Seniorologie for creating such an awesome resource for senior portrait photographers.  If it weren’t for your “birthday,” I probably wouldn’t have had a reason to pull this all together!

By the way…if anyone can get me access to a school (legally, of course), I have lots of other memorable movie scenes that I would love to recreate!

Grayson High School’s Casey Arnold is one of those girls who is truly just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside.

We were first introduced to each other by Makeup Artist Laura Briscoe.  Casey is a very close friend of Laura’s sister Connor.  When we were looking for someone to do hair for the styled shoot, Laura mentioned that she had someone in mind that was awesome and could do just about anything when it comes to hair styling.

If you’ve seen any of the images from the styled shoot, you know that Casey did a tremendous job!  Her talents don’t end there though, because she will be graduating with honors in a few weeks!  :)

I can’t believe it’s almost time for Class of 2012 to graduate!  I decided to specialize in Senior Photography back in the beginning of the school year and it’s crazy how quickly time has passed since then.  I’m really going to miss chatting with all these girls that I have gotten to know over the last several months.  Before graduation though, we have Prom!!  Have you seen how girls get asked to prom these days??  So many cool and creative ways!  As Prom season approached, it got me thinking about what more could I offer high school seniors.

Let me explain a little bit of how this shoot came to be.  Most of you already know that I once thought I would become a wedding photographer.  After about 6 weddings, I realized that wedding photography wasn’t for me.  I loved the getting ready part of the day and details though.  Then it occurred to me that I could document Prom or Homecoming like a wedding.  Why not?  Dresses, shoes, jewelry, getting ready!  All the things that I loved about photographing weddings and bonus, it all has to do with seniors!

You’ll have to excuse me – this post has A LOT of images!  :)

So here we are – Bailey Ferguson’s final appearance on the blog.  You may know her for playing defense on the Grayson High School Girls Varsity Lacrosse team, but I like to call her “goat whisperer.”  Ok, ok, that may sound a little dramatic, but it’s really true!

Let me back up a bit.  When I first started looking for locations for Bailey’s session, I remembered some pictures she had posted to Facebook.  They had some old buildings in the background and I asked her where the location was.  Lucky for me, it was the property of one her friends.  Bailey got us permission to photograph there and we met a few weeks later so I could check out the place.

The owner told me that we could jump the fence to get to the older buildings.  When Bailey and I got there, we had a choice, jump the fence or stand on the other side and not get to explore.  If you know me, I don’t jump fences and I have never been on the same side of a fence as any farm animals. Without hesitation, over the fence Bailey went.  A gaggle of goats headed her way and I held my breath, because I wasn’t sure what was about to happen.  Some of the larger goats approached Bailey first, and they simply walked up to her and let her pet them.  It was so cool!  At this point, I realized how lame I was on the other side of the fence and I took my little girly self and over the fence I went too.  I gotta say, goats are cute, really darn cute!  Who knew!

Fast forward to the day of our session and we find ourselves with the goats again.  This time though, there were 3-4 baby goats.  Oh My Goodness!  All of them loved Bailey…especially, one little girl goat. Everywhere Bailey went, the goat followed, saying “baaa” the whole way.

Now, baby goats are cute, but watch out, because what I didn’t know, they like to nibble things (like Bailey’s toes) and they eat things when they are unsupervised.  I had set down a notebook with 4 sheets of paper sticking out of it.  We couldn’t have been away from the notebook more than 5 minutes, I’m not kidding!  When we got back to the notebook – all of the sheets of paper were gone!  They literally ate the papers!  Lesson learned, watch your paper products around goats.  ;)

I love this one.  Bailey, you are simply stunning!!

awww…back to our little goat friend.  I have to admit, this is a bit deceiving.  The little girl goat was so rambunctious, so catching her still was quite a task.  Bailey withstood a lot of nibbling to get these shots, but I love them, so I’m happy that she didn’t mind.

With graduation approaching, what will Bailey miss most?

“The thing that I’ll miss most is probably going to be being so close with the people that are my friends now…I’ll miss just being able to hang out with them whenever I want & I know that our friendships will change when we all separate for college which makes me sad. Also, FOOTBALL GAMES! They were so much fun and painting up with everyone to cheer on my friends every Friday is definitely something I’ll miss.”

Bailey, it really has been great getting to know you over the past few months.   I know you feel indecisive now, but don’t worry.  When you go off to Georgia Southern in a few months, I’m sure you will excel.  You have such a great, positive attitude and that will get you far!
